PERUGIA

The nearest city--about 30 minutes drive from Prato Di Sopra--and not to be missed.

Perugia is a classic Italian hill top city with absolutely stunning views for miles over the Umbrian countryside. At its centre it has magnificent Renaissance buildings, temporal and sacred, street cafés, restaurants and designer shops.

Escalators take visitors from the car parks to the "Centro Storico" or an alternative is to take the local and very cheap rail service from Umbertide.

Assisi

Assisi needs no introduction, as one of Italy's top tourist attractions and again is not to be missed.

Assisi is approximately 40 minutes drive from Prato Di Sopra, with good parking on the outskirts of the old town and in easy walking distance of the centre itself.

Assisi, famous for being the birthplace of St. Francis, boasts many remains from the Roman Age as well as a number of ancient buildings, churches and monuments. Among the list of tourist attractions Assisi can name The Basilica of St. Francis, The Piazza del Comune, The Duomo and many other wonderful historical sites.

A must visit place on everyone's list.

Lake Trasimene

Again within easy driving distance, approximately 40 minutes. A number of different routes are available, however a favourite is that which allows you to drive through the Niccone Valley right on the Tuscan Border. Tuoro is situated on the north-western shore of the lake and as you descend the hill to the lake you drive past one of the most famous battle grounds in Roman history, where Hannibal massacred the Roman Legions.

There are a number of pretty towns around the shores of the lake, however the biggest is Passignano, which is found mid way along the northern shores. Passignano provides a number of restaurants, water sports and a ferry to Lake Trasimene's islands.

A spectacular drive and day out, which should be thoroughly enjoyed.
